Hpv blood test

I'm a gay male, and I had my lifetime first anal sex with a guy 6 months ago, I'm 1 and he's 0, during which the condom broke wide open.
Afterwards he told me he was diagnosed with hpv 16 in his anal area, it's a high risk strain and I'm scared, and never had any other exposure till now.
My provider said I can have a hpv blood test to know if I've been infected. He said a negative igg result at this point means I never had it. Is that reliable?
I know hsv can be known this way, what about hpv?

Thanks a lot, grace
I only was the penetrative part, and have never been penetrated or rubbed over my anus, should I be concerned about anal infection?
I'm sad to know penile infection cannot be detected if no symptoms are present. I know u mean the blood test cannot differentiate both the type and the infected part of body if its positive.
But what if I test igg and igm negative half a year post exposure? Does it mean my gentital(and other part) has never been infected?

the hpv blood tests don't differentiate type. no way to know if you test + for hpv if it's detecting hpv on your feet, your hands, in your genital area or your mouth. they are of very little use outside of strict research studies so we don't recommend their use.

get an anal pap in a few months if you are really concerned about this.  much more accurate for anal hpv infections.

No, no gardasil shots is available here. Maybe I will get the shot when I study in the US later.
You said we don't test hpv with blood tests, even if I had been infected with a high risk hpv strain that cannot be cleared up, can I still test hpv igg negative after 1-2 years? If yes, why couldn't the virus induce antibodies in my blood?

no, we don't test for hpv with blood tests.

most people clear hpv within 2 years of being infected. You can follow up with an anal pap in a few months if you need the peace of mind. That's how your partner was diagnosed I'm sure.

have you had your gardasil shots for hpv yet?
