desperation drove me to this!!!!!!

Exactly 1 month ago i had unprotected sex with a female friend of mine. One day later i got a sore throat. I tried salt water gargling and it worked. We are good friends and have had one unprotected sexual encounter before. She had unprotected sex with her boyfriend after our first sexual encounter and then broke up. We met a yr later ( I passed out of coll and she dumped her boyfriend) and enjoyed two days of unprotected lovemaking. Since the past 30 days i have had one bout of sore throat accompanied by enlarged tonsils. Last week i had swollen cervical nodes, felt a loss in appetite and fever, chills. My friend does not have any symptoms. Yesterday i got three white spots just inside my upper lip(they look like fordyce granules) and felt some itchiness. I went to a hospital two days ago, the senior doctors had left and there was only a junior doctor on site. He checked me and that there was nothing wrong with me but suggested i meet a senior doctor. Im  waiting for another two weeks(it would be six weeks then) to meet a doctor and undergo HIV testing. ( I quit smoking hash aweek ago, could this add to the aforementioned symptoms) Pls help us sir! I hail from India and HIV\AIDS(although an epidemic) is considered a taboo and people who have it are considered amoral and despised!! Im only 22 and my friend is 19yrs old. Pls help us sir!!

I agree, your risk for HIV was low.  But you should practice safe sex, especially if you have multiple partners.  Your symptoms are probably due to a garden variety virus, not HIV.  However, for peace of mind, a three month test is conclusive (however, if your six week is negative, I really don't think you need to be tested again).  STD testing is a good idea though - you are at a greater risk for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HSV.
Best wishes,
Em

If you have multiple partners, you should use condoms. The same goes for your friend. I do not know your region's statistics, but the chance of someone having HIV is low. (How many people do you know that have it? If the answer is ZERO, then the prevalence is probably low.) Further, it is not transmitted every time that you have sex with someone. Therefore, your overall risk is probably pretty low. It sounds like you have a throat infection like strep. Oral Herpes HSV1 can also be transmitted via kissing. HSV2 can be transmitted via oral sex (but this is rare).
