What is the window period for syphilis antibodies serum immunoassay??
26 days after exposure condom breakage during heterosexual activity with unknown female I got tested for syphilis RPR test which is a screening test and was non reactive. I want to know what is the window period for a conclusive test result in case I go for syphilis antibodies immunoassay blood test
The RPR and its cousin, the VDRL test, require 6 weeks for conclusive results. The newer antibody tests haven't been as carefully studied. They likely are conclusive somewhat sooner, probably around 4 weeks, but 6 weeks may be safer.
