At this point, finish your antibiotics though you probably were given them needlessly :( You tested negative for the two most common causes of pid and it's not likely you have it. return to be seen again 1 month from your initial appointment. have them re-examine you and if they still see signs of cervical inflammation, they can do a pap test then to look for causes.
you can follow up with herpes igg blood testing 3 months after the encounter you had. initial herpes ob's can often present on the cervix and since it sounds like your provider didn't swab your cervix for herpes, best to follow up.
hpv and bacterial infections are the other 2 common causes of cervical inflammation. a pap test will be helpful with them both if you are still having symptoms in a month.discuss hpv dna testing with that pap if your provider sees signs of cervical inflammation at that time too.
no quick and easy answers but gives you some ideas of what to be asking about when you return to see your provider for better answers.
Hi Grace,
Yes they mentioned there was some inflammation.
when you were seen, did they mention if your cervix looked inflamed at all?
