STD and vaginal fluid

First off, thank you for your time.
I had protected sex with a girl a couple days ago, but I am still worried about getting an STD. I don't have any symptoms, but what worries me is the fact that right before sex we were kissing and doing very heavy petting (penis against vagina) without any clothes on, or protection. A condom was not put on until we had actual intercourse. I would like to know what the chances are of contracting an STD from rubbing against my partner? Until now I never thought about it, but after doing a little research I realize there is risk.

I don't know much about all STDs in general, but I know some stuff about HPV, and it can be transmitted in the way you describe.  But almost everyone gets HPV at some point in their life, and most people's immune systems destroy the virus without ever getting any symptoms.  Always get your 1 year pap smear, but other than that, you don't need to worry about HPV unless you do see symptoms like warts.  As far the possibility of contracting any other STDs from the encounter, I'm as clueless as you.
