hsv1 and 2 positive results

about two weeks ago i had the whole 9 of std testing my results came back positive for hsv1 and 2. i have not had any symptoms whatsoever and i keep reading people saying how their test results came back with low positives like 1.2 but my doctor never gave me any test results to go by they just called me over the phone! should i ask for a copy, all i know is that i think my results were sent to labcorp. and i also had a bacterial infection too which i was given antibiodics for but prescribed nothing else, will this affect my results and should i retest?

Since you have no symptoms, have hsv1, and that's below a 3.5, I'd get it confirmed.  Its a bit high, so there is a possibility that you do have it, but I'd want to get it confirmed.

If all you and your bf do is avoid sex during an outbreak, he has a 96% chance of NOT getting hsv2 from you per year.  If you were to go on suppression (daily valtrex or acyclovir), its a 98% chance.  You'd have to stop the antivirals daily when you became pregnant, though.

Getting pregnant is fine.  The dangers for babies and herpes occur when the mother is infected in her last 3 months of pregnancy, or if she has an outbreak during delivery.  Most doctors are putting moms on suppression for the last 4-6 weeks of pregnancy to prevent that.  If you did have an outbreak, they'd do a c-section.

my results came back with igg hsv1 (2.37) and hsv2 (2.84). would it be a waste of time if i ask for a retest or to get the western blot test, also if im asymptomatic do i need to take medication, and also how does this affect me having a baby if my boyfriend tests come back negative, and i don't want to infect him or my baby, we were trying to get pregnant before i recieved my results.  sorry so many questions!

If you call your doctor, you can get the numbers.  That's really important to find out, and we can help determine if its a false positive of not, or if the right test was done.
