Totally Confused

Well get out your popcorn as I have quite a strange story and really need some advise...

5 1/2 months ago this all started

I met a young lady at the bar and we came back to my place.  We fooled around a bit in my bed; boxers stayed on, but there was grinding in the area.

5 days later I start to feel wierd in my grion area; and about 10 days after the incident I have three small pimples that are a bit painful.  I also have a general discomfort in the area.  I go to the doctor about 17 days after the first symptoms telling him I think I have herpes he takes one look and says yes you do; no real reason to take a test just take Valtrex and you will clear right up... I get tested for HSV at this point.  Test comes back positive HSV1 negative on 2, but this is too early to tell what I really have as antiboidies shouldn't be present by this point.

It may be important to note I have only been with one person in a monomous relationship prior to this over the last 3 years.  I was tested 1 year ago and negative on HIV, clamidia, gohnorea, and syphillis.

Now it gets interesting... my small pimples don't really go away just become less pronounced.  Valtrex doesn't help, and I still have the discomfort in the area... i.e. a wierd feeling on my perrenium, ocassional stomach cramps, and just not right down there.  I call the girl; she tells me she gets tested and everything came back negative... I don't believe her though.  I go back into get tested for HIV at 12 weeks past the incident and it comes back negative.

At 4 months things still haven't changed so I go back into the doctor.  He looks at the bumps and says that he mis-diagnosed me and that this certaintly isn't herpes.  He says that they look like benign (sp?) cists and not to worry about anything; it's all in my head.

At 5 months I still feel wierd down there.  I went back in to get urine test for Clamidia, Gohnorrea, and syphillis.  Blood for HSV2.  Suprisingly everything came back negative.

I am totally lost now.  I don't know what I could have; I don't know if it was related to the incident with the girl, if something else is wrong, or if this could be in my head.  I find it very hard to believe that all this could be just random.

What else should I be getting tested for?  What else could this be?  Is there a doctor I should be trying to see?  How accurate are these tests?  PLEASE HELP ME!!!

You know you can contract HSV-1 genitally?? I don't know if it's an outbreak you're having down there or if it's a skin situation like your doctor said. You should get a second opinion if you are still not comfortable with the answers your doctor is giving you :}

Look, normally I might agree with you, but I had some painful pimples on my penis, and after a few weeks they became less painful, but didn't go away.  The girl was on her period (I later found out) I thought blood, herpes not going away, and drew a correlation to potentially HIV (thanks internet).   I have never really had a cold sore, but I would be shocked if I didn't have it orally as my last g/f would get an outbreak now and then, plus I have kissed quite a few ladies back in the day.

My symptoms still bother me all the fricken time.  I just want to be done with this.

I wouldn't get tested for anything, because I simply don't believe you have anything.  Were you previously aware of your HSV-1 status?  Meaning do you get cold sores or have you had a positive test before?

The tests for HSV-2 at 5 months would be about 95% sensitive.  Maybe a bit higher.  High enough to say that's not what your "symptoms" would be from.

Anyway, all of this doesn't really matter because your boxers stayed on!  You were at no risk, especially for things like HIV.  I'm not sure why you even tested in the first place?  Stomach cramps aren't really a STD symptom, but they are one of anxiety.

I really do think that anxiety has just got a hold of you.
