syphilis worry

over a year ago i had unprotected oral sex from a gay man.months later i noticed a small flat spot on the outside of my penis which disappeared after about ten days. i have had no other symptoms in nearly a year however my wife has been hospitalised four times in the last eight months with  constant symptoms of sore throat, swollen and very painful lymph nodes, fatigue, headaches and has in fact been bed-ridden for the past six weeks.she has not had any rash or chancres to her knowledge and has tested negative for glandular fever.is it possible she could have secondary syphilis in this space of time and with me being so healthy.would "routine" blood tests in the hospital show up syphilis in her blood?my "gay"experience was a one off and will never happen again,i just pray to god my wife is'nt suffering for my stupidity.please help.

IS it possible...yes. If you had gotten syphilis from that guy and had sex with your wife while the sore was present then she could have gotten syphilis.
Routine blood tests would not look for syphilis. First you need to get tested for syphilis and gonorrhea and see what the results are. If positive for syphilis then you need to get your wife tested and treated.
