concerned about "possible symptoms"

Hello all,
First I would like to say thank you to all that find the courage to post here.  I know that it is hard to deal with this stuff, as I have been dealing with it for a long time now.

Over 100 days ago, I got really drunk and had unprotected vaginal sex for a couple of minutes with an old flame.  Feeling awful due to the fact I'm married, I immediately proceeded to the bathroom for a hot shower and a lot of washing in the downstairs region.  The following day I awoke with a sore throat and within 2 days I got the flu like symptoms and chills and swollen left lymph node, which went away within a couple of days.  I also experienced a penis discomfort that I can only describe as headache like and it seemed to be just a general ache that was more pronounced when I dwelled on it and went to the forums to research std's.  The pain has never been excruciating, just annoying.

10 days after exposure I talked to an std doc and told him my story and he said that it was unlikely my exposure caused me to contract anything and that the lack of sleep and not eating the usual meals I do when I'm not on vacation might have made me susceptible to getting sick.  For my peace of mind he said he was gonna run the whole battery:  hiv, syphilis, gono, clym, herpes and probably more stuff than I know about.  He also threw in an added bonus of one dose of 1000 mg of azithromycin.  Coincidentally, a few days later I seemed to feel better because the z pak gave me that peace of mind and I stopped dwelling on every little feeling my body had.

Any way, my results came back clean about 10 days after the test was given, but I still felt bad about what I had done.  Over the last 3 months or so, it seems that the discomfort downstairs is intermitting and the only way it seems to go away is if I try my damndest to not dwell on it and it goes away and everything is fine.  The only other thing I have noticed is that my testicles hurt sometimes but only one at a time and sometimes it's the left and others it is the right.

I realize that 10 days post exposure is too early to tell for syphilis, herpes, and hiv and I plan on heading back in for the after 3 month window exposure tests to rule anything else out but I work away from my practitioner and will be back home soon to get these done.

After all that, my question is this:  would the first outbreak of herpes or syphilis happen over 100 days after possible exposure.  I know that the timeline is screwy for some std's but most people get symptoms and outbreaks of these 2 around 3 or so weeks after exposure.  Also, do herpes just all of a sudden pop up or do the blisters take a few days to form?  All of the sights seem to have pics of ob's farther along so I can't tell what it looks like when it starts to form those blisters.

I talked to that old flame and she said that she hasn't had any symptoms and gets regular testing done and hasn't seen anything positive (and i do realize that people can be asymptomatic).  Also, would I have the penis discomfort on and off for 3 months before something popped its ugly head out?  As for other typical symptoms, I haven't had any as far as I can tell.  It's just bothering me again and the guilt has me turning back to the internet for more research and I know that the worrying is playing a big part in my symptoms.  I also have been checking out my penis a lot but before all this I didn't so I have noticed all the imperfections but nothing like a bump or blister has come up.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that all looking for some insight find it.  I am praying that this one mistake doesn't cost me everything.

Thanks, Grace!!  I hope to make it to the doc this week and I'll keep you posted.

All that's around now is some mild discomfort downstairs when I walk around.  It's like the head is a bit sensitive when rubbing against my boxers, but if I rub it myself it doesn't seem to be sensitive.

I also feel some tingles down there from time to time, but for the most part I have been keeping myself from doing too much looking.  I am just tired of all this and hope to get some answers soon.  I think that after having some tingles a week ago that I would of seen some sort of "normal" symptoms by now.  Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the reply Grace.

For the mean time I will try not to obsess about it.

My penis head is a little sensitive when I do a lot of movement. Hopefully this thing is just some rubbed skin and it heals. I'll keep you posted once I hit the clinic.

Thanks for all the time you dedicate to helping out us all :)

these actually sound normal. odds are you've just never obsessed over your genital area this much before on a regular basis to notice how different things can sometimes look.

like I said, call off the crotch watch !

Thanks for the advice. I have pretty much stood down the watch and keeping my mind occupied and it seems to work :)

The only thing that has me concerned is the indention that borders my urethra opening. It hasn't really changed in 3 days but I feel I would of noticed it with all the watching I've done in the last 100 days. It's a few mm's big and doesn't hurt to touch it and it isn't filled with pus or anything. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. If it were herpes it would of grown or filled with fluid right?

Thank you both for the prompt replies. Just one more thing...
The thing that had me concerned was after extensive looking, I found what looks like 2 slight indentations right there by the urethra opening, one on each side slightly offset.  They are flesh colored and could of been missed by the last investigations, but I just happened to have the shadows right and saw it. I noticed it roughly 72 hours ago. If this were herpes then they would be red or white and filling with pus right?  I was doing some heavy dancing at the club this weekend and a lot of grinding, maybe that's the cause?

Again no change on them in 3 days just alarmed. Thank you deeply for helping me out.

I agree with grace , it looks like more anxiety , after 3 months go for a test again and that will be conclusive. since you have already contacted the doc, just be relaxed.

none of your symptoms sound like syphilis, herpes or hiv. Most of them sound like what we call a genitally focused anxiety.

follow up with the rest of your testing at the proper times so you are covering your bases for your regular partner.

also call off the crotch watch! only look at the lil guy to aim to pee!
