Hello
I recently found out I was pregnant and went to my first appointment and tested positive for gonorrhea. My health care provider and I were both suprised. I have never had symptoms nor has my boyfriend and she also said my pap looked great without any problems. She asked me to get tested again. My boyfriend denied cheating and I am faithful. I did get out of a marriage 1.5 years ago where my husband was cheating on me. I was never tested. I know that you can have this and have symptoms and not realize it because they are minor. My question is could I have gotten this from my ex-husband and not known or is this def from my boyfriend. Like I said neither of us have symptoms.

pregnancy can cause false positives with gonorrhea testing. get your partner tested and see what his status is. the odds of both of you being falsely positive are very low.

bottom line no harm in treating for a false negative since you are pregnant compared to the harm in not treating and it's a true positive.

since you are pregnant, you and your current partner should also request type specific herpes igg blood testing too to see what each others status is too. it's typically not a part of routine pregnancy testing and odds are your partner has never been tested for it before either.

Hi.

We can't know who you got it from, as Aelly said, this STD can be asymptomatic.

If you tested again, it should have been right away before any treatment.  Im sure your doctor gave you treatment just to be safe.

Hopefully it comes back negative, please come back and let us know.  I want it to be, and to say it was a false positive test.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.

If (emphasis on if) its positive: to be safe all around, your current partner needs to be tested and importantly treated; also your ex husband also needs to be tested and more importantly treated.

The thing is with stds is what they often are asymptomatic. They can sometimes appear without any symptoms at all. This could be both a recently acquired or past acquired disease. At least you can get treatment to clear this out.
