Symptoms After Treatment

Male, 25.

I had exposure a month, and a day ago, twice, with two different partners oral and vaginal no protection. And spent the entire day swimming in a fresh water lake with old contacts on. The next day I developed a rash in my eye, so I removed the contacts, threw them away and the rash cleared in a day. No noticeable symptoms besides the pink eye, when I was tested in a clinic 3 days after my most recent exposure.

The day after I was tested I saw a discharge from my penis which looked like a thin clear sticky substance. It was excessive and not normal. I was certain this was an STD. I contracted chlamydia 6 years ago, but that came with more irritation in the urethra, this time the irritation was not present.

I had to wait two weeks for test results from a clinic which came back negative for chlamydia, gohnnoreaha, syphilis, and HIV, and the only persistent symptom was a drip after urination that looked cloudy when in the urine. My urine also seemed a bit off color or cloudy, and foul smelling, and of course there was some of this clear thin sticky discharge at times. After finding out the tests were negative I saw a physicians assistant at the doctors office, told him my symptoms, and he told me that I may have been tested too early, so he suggested treatment and testing. I agreed because I didn't want to wait another two weeks for test results.

They gave me a 250MG shot of cefTRIAXone (rocephin) and a prescription for 100MG of dioxycyline (twice a day for 7 days). They never asked me if I had contracted an STD before they gave me the treatment. And I never got test results back because...

They administered the shot BEFORE I gave the urine sample which I thought was strange, and then I passed out in the bathroom, and spilled the urine sample, so I never got a sample. They told me I passed out because of the anxiety from the needle. They didn't find me in the rest room, or hear me fall. I came to, and crawled out. The ordeal was incredibly embarrassing, if it weren't for the shame and disappointment in myself for being in that situation in the first place, I probably would have been more upset, but I shrugged it off. But I digress.

After a finishing the 7 day course of dioxycycline a week ago today I still noticed some mild dripping, and now my symptoms seem to be reappearing if not getting worse. The thin clear sticky discharge is prevalent and there are stains on my underwear. I contacted the physician the day after treatment when my symptoms didn't subside, and he said the discharge was normal, then I noticed a strange quite large thick yellowish/cloudy discharge at the bottom of the toilet I examined it as it stuck to the end of a wad of toilet paper, after a mild BM, and urination, after I got off the phone. I scheduled a follow up and saw the doctor yesterday. They tested me for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HSV. I also have an itrchy rash around my nose I was worried was herpes but the physician examined it, and determined it was a secondary contact to poison ivy. (I was throwing a baseball with my cousin, and it did roll into the bushes, and there is poison ivy and sumac and oak all around my house).

I am currently waiting for the results, and my symptoms seem to be getting worse, or persisting, and they certainly are not getting any better, but aside from the discharge, and maybe some mild discomfort (could be physiological) there is not much else. I am afraid the results will come back negative, and then I really won't know what to do, as my symptoms persist.

What do you think is going on?
Could the treatment failed?
Could this be non-STD related, shouldn't the antibiotics have worked anyway (The physician was pretty sure it was either gon, or chly)?
Could it be because I have had an STD, that I need stronger antibiotics?
Is herpes simplax commonly mistaken for poison ivy, and could it have caused this discharge?
Should I get another opinion. This office has been a terrible experience, they seem nice, but the fainting fiasco, and the physicians advice that this discharge is normal, (it certainly is not) make me want to start questioning credibility.

I am just looking for advice at this point, thank you.

it means putting a finger in your anus to feel your prostate to see if it feels enlarged.

I am not certain what a manual prostate examine entails, but I don't think so. I was told my symptoms were probably physiological, but I know what I examined, and that was not normal.

I am experiencing some lower back aches in the kidney area as well. Not chronic or really detrimental, but unsure if that would be any indication of some kind of problem with my kidney, prostate. My physician told me once the test results were back in if I were still experiencing discharge and discomfort he would direct me to a urologist. Not sure what is going on, very stressful.

I'd see an urologist at this point. have they manually examined your prostate yet?

no real reason to think this is std related at this point.
