Extremely Worried!

around late january or early february i had a burning sensation while urinating and a pain in my flank. i went to the doctor and was tested for chlamydia and gonorrea (though i had no discharge) and the test were negative. i was still given antibiotics. about 2 days later i developed 2 sores. one on the tip which resembled a tiny pimple, and on on the side of my penis which resembled a tiny sore (both werent really painful). i cheated on my girlfriend and had an affair which lasted 3 months (almost always the sex was unprotected). could the sores be a side effect of the antibiotics?...does it sound std related?...my girlfriend has been suffering from yeast infections, could this be related? since early feb i have been experiencing "weird" symptoms such as fatigue, white tongue, burning tongue, random pulsating sensation in muscles, burning feeling throughout body, cold hands, mild headache, dry mouth, irritated throat (no pain when swallowing) just a scratchy, hoarse feeling, dry cough, patches of dry skin, wheezing and shortness of breath. i know you are no expert, but could this be anxiety? i also tested negative for hiv 84 days after exposure. could this be hiv related though?

Here is an article about the increase in syphilis in NYC  - http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/pr2007/pr054-07.shtml

I couldn't find recent stats on syphilis for the state.

Syphilis is more common in some areas than others.  Its toough to say how common it is without knowing where you are.  You can find the syphilis rates by googling your location and syphilis rates.

Its really tough to say what these are over the internet.  My suggestion would be that you and your gf get tested for herpes.  Herpes is something either one of you could have had and not known it, so it might not have come from this affair.

I would at least let a doc see it.

It doesn't sound typical of herpes, or syphilis for that matter, but herpes sores can look very different from person to person.

Negative test for HIV 84 days post effectively rules that out.

Side effects from the antibiotics, I highly doubt it.

HSV can cause dysuria (painful urination).  It can also cause sores.  The initial HSV outbreak can also have flu like symptoms with fatigue, fever, aches, etc.

You'll need to wait 3 months since your last exposure for an accurate test, but if it's been that long then you could test now for HSV.  Alternatively, if you again have open lesions, you can have them swabbed for PCR to test for HSV.

HSV can cause symptoms often confused with a yeast infection in females.  How was the yeast infection diagnosis made?  Based on symptoms alone or based on tests?  If it was based on tests, then those are quite reliable.

White tongue could be a sign of oral thrush, which could be related to your girlfriend's yeast.

The flank pain does sound like it could be NGU though, that would not be typical of HSV but could be for NGU.  There are common causes of NGU beyond Chlamydia, these are Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, and Trichomonas.  Search on here for those, there is lots of info.
