scaly red spot?

HI Doctor, I am 25 year old male who's always been in very good shape. two weeks ago I noticed a red circular spot on the shaft of my penis which appears to be like a rash except that it does not hurt, smell or itch. It is of about three quarters of an inch wide and It appears to be a patch of dry skin as the skin looks dry  and red. The skin becomes scaly to the point that the skin can be peeled off. It has been two weeks since I first noticed it and at first I thought it was simply an irritation but now since it has not gone away and I am little worried. Could it be anything serious? I am tempted to go visit a Dr. but the approach makes me a little nervous. help! thank you!

The only thing I can think of is syphilis, or a fungal infection.  A doc can test you for syphilis, and should be able to tell if its a fungal infection.

A syphilis sore can linger for up to about 4 weeks.

You really do want to get this tested, ok?

It could just be a rash. Don't mess with it. Go see a dermotologist. If its been there for two weeks, its likely to be nothing.
