Question about epididymitis

I never had penetrative sex or any form of oral sex (genital-to-mouth or mouth-to-genital) in my life.

Three months back I had a nude hugging which included a external frottage with an unknown person.   There is no penetrative or oral sex.    After this incident, the very next day I started getting mild pain in my right testicle.   As per my doctor's advice, 2 weeks back I did test for all the STDs like Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Herpes, Urethritis, etc.   Nothing found.   The doctor is saying it could be Epididymitis.   I know epididymitis cause testicle swelling, but I don't see any testicle swelling in my case.

Can these organisms like E.Coli, etc causing the acute epididymitis spread through skin to skin contact?

I read in CDC web site saying, epididymitis occurs usually due to penetrative sex where the bacteria gains enter through the urethra.

I am little confused to see why my doctor is suspecting it is epididymitis.     Can somebody say whether skin to skin body contact especially on the testicle region spreads E.Coli or anyother organism from one person to another person and directly gains entry into the testicle region rather gaining entry through urethra?

Grace,  I checked my prostate, and the PSA levels are normal.     I am still thinking why any infection get transferred through sweats from one skin to another especially in penis or scrotum though there is no ejaculation or mutual maturbation?   Can sweat transmit infection from one genital to another?

you need to be continuing to follow up with the urologist for this.

if you are continually introducing soap into your urethra it can irritate it continually but no, any irritation from 5 months ago would've cleared up by now.

have they checked your prostate?

Thanks Grace.    Are you saying if it is a viral infection it should take only few weeks to clear, and not in several months, like the pain I am undergoing now?

You may be right on soaps.  During the same time (few days before the rubbing),  I remember changing my regular soap, and used a different soap instead.    But I used it only for a month, did not like it, and came back to my regular soap and started using it till now.

Since I am not circumcised, everyday I regularly wash my glans with excessive soap to keep them very neat.

Can change in soap cause epididymitis?   Though I stopped using the new soap for more than 5 months now, will it take more time to heal?

viral infections can take weeks to clear.

no, nothing will go from scrotal skin through your scrotal skin to infect you and cause these issues.

perhaps you even introduced soap into your urethra with your bath afterwards and that has caused these issues for you the next day?

continue to follow up with your urologist if pains continue.

We never masturbated together or ejaculated.   I am pretty sure that I never touch the tip of my penis or glans, and I took a bath immediately after my rubbing.   So chances of getting the infection enter through urethra is highly unlikely.

I'm little worried thinking, any unknown virus gain entry from his scrotal skin and enters into my scrotal skin, ultimately sitting and infecting my epididmyitis?

Even if it is a viral infection, normally how long a viral infection take time to clear up?

e coli is present in all of us in our bowels. in females, it easily gets into our urogenital tracts because of our anatomy. usually it's not much of an issue but it can cause uti's in us gals. it tends not to be an issue for males because your urethral opening is so far away from your anal opening. really no reason to think this is an e coli related issue.

if you have had pains like this previously, it's not likely to be a std related issue. continue to follow up as needed with your urologist to get better answers if your pain is continuing.  nothing you would've potentially picked up from this other partner would cause you to have pain the next day.

Please the very first sentence in the first post as "I never had penetrative sex or any form of oral sex (genital-to-mouth or mouth-to-genital) in my life other than my partner"
instead of  "I never had penetrative sex or any form of oral sex (genital-to-mouth or mouth-to-genital) in my life."

Sorry for missing "other than my partner"  and causing confusion.  :-)

Thank you Grace.   Me or the other guy never masturbated.   Here is something which I did not mention.  My girl friend (regular partner) had E. Coli in her test 3 years back.   I used to tell her that I have a very mild pain in penis and testicles  until 1 year back.    Is that something I acquired from her, which was dormant in my body causing unnoticeable pain, and got activated now and manifested into severe pain during this risky encounter I had?

What are the possibilities of E.Coli transmitting from woman to man during regular man-woman penetrative sex?    Can it not enter from woman to men through urethra?
Why it din't show up in my urine, blood and semen tests?   Is that some infection from these bacterias which got stuck somewhere in prostate causing all these pains?

the contact you had is not a risk for anything. whatever is going on , is not related to that encounter.

you can introduce bacteria from your hands into your urogenital tract too during masturbation.

see an urologist for a better work up.
