Anti-biotic resistant gonorrhea

I have a quick question. I recently had an encounter which was a very low risk encounter (no penetration). however, i was having symtoms that could be suggestive of gonorrhea (frequent urination, weak stream, buring sensation in area between penis and rectum). My doctor prescribed 2G of azithromycin and put me on twice daily 500MG Cipro. After going on the medication last Thursday, my symptoms went away very quickly (w/i 24 hours). Recently, however, I have been noticing some minor (meaning not as severe) symptoms return and also some tingly sensation in the genital area, but most noticeably in the area between penis and rectum and even in the anus.

My question is: Is it possible that i have an anti-biotic resistant strain of gonorrhea? or, if i had an anti-biotic resistant strain, would the symptoms not have disapeared so quickly initially? Will the "older" forms of antibiotic have an initial effect on gonorrhea, but then utlimatley be overwhelmed and fail to cure the infection? or is it typically that it either works or it doesn't and if it doesn't you will notice zero initial effect on symptoms?

Sorry for the long-winded question. I have been experiencing significant anxiety about this. It is causing me to wonder if constantly thinking about my symtpoms and the stress it is inducing is actually causing the symptoms. is that possible?

I really appreciate your help in answering these questions, thanks very very much!!!

Stripper is probably not a high risk person and the risk from 10 seconds of just doing that is really non-existant.

Symptoms do not point to gonorrhea either. Best advice is to follow up with your Dr. I doubt that it is a STD.

And yes either the medication works or it doesn't for gonorrhea. Check my profile I posted a journal article about resistant gonorrhea that you can read. But like I said follow up with your Dr.

very interesting article. it has prompted another question about my case. the drugs referenced in the article as the recommended treatments are not ones that I was prescribed. I totally understand that you don't think my symptoms are indicative of STD, but in the small chance that it is gonnorhea, would a combination of 2g of azithromycin and a 2x per day 7 day regimine of 500mg Cipro likely be effective against the infection, even if not the typically recommended treatment? thanks again, your advice is tremendously helpful!!

Basically, it involved a stripper puting her mouth over the tip of my penis. it lasted for probably less than 10 seconds. i realize this is probably considered fairly low risk, but i have no idea what else these symptoms would be caused by and this women, being a stripper, is probably a high risk person.

Tell me more about the encounter...what exactly happened. It will be helpful to even know if you had a risk for a STD.
