Chlamydia / UTI / prostatis ?? please help very concerned

by Jonathan323, Feb 08, 2009 09:34PM
Hello, ( I posted this in Urology, and thought maybe it should go here as well, sorry I am new to this website)

I am experiecing a very strange symptom, have had STD tests, and am absolutely baffled and very concerned .
After intercourse or masterbation (masturbation), I have a clear stcky discharge, that sometimes lasts up to or over an hour.  I have been tested for all STD's , negative, two tests and all blood work, had a prostrate exam with no inflammation noted, and am begining to wonder if I had a false negative STD test, I was on Keflex I believe or had just finished with a course of it when I took the test, so I am wondering if that would effect the results of a NAAT. I also have been diagnosed with a left sided vericocele, so could that be causing a delay in semen that would explain the leakage, or should I re test or consider a swab test, or I am worrying for nothing, is it normal to have discharge of this nature after ejaculating ????  Urine samples were negative for bacteria. So I am thinking maybe NSU, or Prostatits, but would the protrate be inflammed ? Or could this be clamydia (chlamydia), it otherwise does not oocur spontainously, i do not wake up with discharge, no pain on urination, What does anyone think, would love a Dr's reply.

Yes, the Keflex would have affected the testing, so you might want to test again 2 weeks after finishing the keflex.  Its not sounding a lot like an std, but its good to get it ruled out.

The varicocele probably wouldn't be causing this, but its something to discuss with a urologist.

No one on this forum are doctors, so if you want a doctor's opinion, scroll down about 3/4 of the page, and click on the STDs link under "related expert forums".

Thanks Aj, I got a response from Dr. Hook, he says to wait two weeks and restest, my first scare came back in 2006 when my x was DX with Chlamydia, we were both treated, upon my treatment I was of course given the urine test, but low and behold, it came back negative, as did all other STD's.

The test I am refering to when I was on Keflex was in sept 2009, I had a pilonidal cyst (which is now removed) and they gave me Kef. to ensure I had no infection spreading to my bloodstream. I just cant remeber when I stoppped taking it, or if i was still on it during the STD test, if I would have known this I would have waited for the test, I can say that I did not urinate at all the am, until I went to the Dr. for that reason, this really ***** I just want everything to be okay. This just makes me terrified to even have a monagamous relationship, it just *****.

One other question, does the discharge from chlamydia appear spontainoulsy or is it only on arousal, my discharge is pre and post arousal only, and I talked to Dr Edawrd Hook, he highly doubts chlamydia, also I spoke to my PCP tonight and he said Keflex would not have affected the test, as Keflex is not effective against it, and the fact it was done first thing in the AM helps the accuracy of the test,,,,, so yeah is a spotainous discharge ( I would assume so right, a continous discharge) or is it more somthing that shows up when aroused, at least to your knowledge ???

I agree with Dr. Hook.  Chlamydia discharge is constant, not just around the arousal periods.

Thanks AJ. I really appreciate it , this web site is great, my MD is under the impression it's a UTI, or a bit of prostatitis , wow that would really bite to have Chlamydia, it be like walking around with a leaky fire-hose. But I think it's a scary STD even though highly treatable, due to the fact there are no symptoms in some people, very a symptomatic, I just been through alot lately, pilonidal surgery, finding out I have a varicocele on my left side, a cyst on the right side, partridge in a pair tree lol. Well I am going to try the duration of the Cipro and see if that helps, if so then its a bet it was just a prostrate issue, or maybe a bit of a UTI. Thanks , ill update in a couple weeks.

Just to follow up. Chlamydia test was negative. Looks like it's a minor case of prostatitis , got my urine test back all is well.

Thanks.
