Gardasil Shot

I got three Gardasil shots. Three months went by between the first and second shot and aproximately a year between the second and third shot. I am seeing a person who has HPV, one of the ones that give you genital warts.
My question is, am I protected even if a year went by? Should I get another shot?
And also, I don't understand if the vaccine prevents you from getting warts and hvp in general or just prevents you from getting cancer. I've been told both things and I'm confused now.

My partner doesn't have warts right now but he had them three months ago.
Would it be ok now?

yes you are protected even though you  had more time than they suggest in between shots 2 &3.

gardasil protects you from the 2 most common types of genital warts as well as the 2 most common types of hpv that are commonly associated with cervical cancer.

if your partner has obvious warts though I'd still err on the side of caution and only have protected sexual contact or better yet, avoid sex until they've been properly treated and have not returned for a few months.  does your partner have actual warts or a history of warts?

I am not an expert on this but I believe it will protect you from the cancer causing HPV. So if the person has another strain then it is possible to get, but if the person does not have an active outbreak then transmission will not take place and HPV generally leaves the body within 2 years. So if this person has had it for a while chances are they no longer have it.
