Gonnorea False Positive??

I went for my annual pap smear a few weeks ago and a week later my doctor called to tell me that I tested positive for gonorrhea.  I have been in a monogamous relationship for 4 years and have never cheated.  I confronted my boyfriend about it and he said that he has been faithful.  My doctor had me get a shot, take a 10 day antibiotic, and a 7 day antibiotic.  My boyfriend went a few days ago to get tested and his results were negative.  How is it possible for him to be negative and me to be positive?  Could I have had a false-positive result?  I asked my doctor this and he said absolutely not and when I asked him to retest me he would not.  I was told by someone else that since I had already started the antibiotics that more than likely the test results would be negative anyway.  Can someone please shine some light on this situation for me?  What are the chances that I could have had a false-positive result?

Well you will not get any clear cut answers at this point. Could you have had a false positive...Yes it is possible. Not likely but when done with paps I have seen higher false positives with chlamydia so I would assume would also happen with gonorrhea. Or bf could have had gonorrhea and it could have cleared on it's own or he could have taken something to clear it. But chances are he would have had symptoms (discharge) so it probably would have alarmed him not to have sex with you.

Since you have medicated a retest would not show anything. So yes it could be a false positive or yes he could have cheated. Can't say for sure and probably will never know. I will say if he did cheat it would have probably been within the past year, but can't point a finger at him due to the false positive possibility.
