I received unprotected oral sex from a woman I don't even know

She said she was clean, and I didn't see any sores on her lips.  She gave me unprotected oral sex for about 10 minutes.  I am freaking out after the fact.  What are the chances I have contracted any kind of STD???  

Also I have Ciproflaxacin HCL (500 mg TAAPO).  Would taking that, one pill twice a day for about 10 days, kill off bacterial infections like chlamydia or gonnorhea?????


Please help me as soon as possible.  I am freaking out.  I will never do this again.

PLEASE do not self treat.  NOTHING good ever comes from that.

The chances that you got something from oral sex are low, and if you want to be sure, test for gonorrhea and NGU at a week past the encounter, and syphilis (which is rare in developed countries) at 6 weeks.

Taking meds you don't need is how we got resistance to many of the meds we used to be able to use for stds.  As it stands right now, we only have one for gonorrhea.  That's not a good situation.

Well its low in general - oral sex isn't as risky as intercourse is.  Also, gonorrhea is less common than chlamydia, and syphilis is less common than both.

Calm down.  I already said it was lower risk.  Chlamydia is no chance, and herpes is a small chance, as is gonorrhea, NGU and syphilis.

Herpes-rare not even a concern
Syphilis-rare but you would see a sore or "canker" form on your penis.

For gonorrhea and NGU, you'd most likely see symptoms within a few weeks, syphilis within 6 weeks, give or take.

We've told you this is no cause for mad panic, and we can't say it again.

I'm going to get tested on March 1.  That would be almost 2 weeks since it happened.  Is that enough time to get an accurate test?

Yeah, but the thing is I don't want to pass it on to my girlfriend, who is coming to visit me in a few weeks and who is allergic to condoms, and would think something is up if I don't have sex with her without anything.  I swear this will never happen again.  It was an extraordinarily stupid mistake.

2 weeks is plenty of time for gonorrhea and NGU - you can test for those at a week.  Syphilis takes 6 weeks, but its uncommon enough that I wouldn't worry about that.

Just about zero. Oral herpes does not shed and is not commonly transmitted via oral sex.
I ran some stats in my area just to help you out. I have just about 150,000 people living in my city. In 2006 there were about 300 reported cases of gonorrhea, and 2 cases of syphilis. Syphilis is rare, so rare it's not even a worry as you see from this stat I gave you and syphilis is most commonly transmitted via homosexual activity.
Ok so on to gonorrhea let's say 1/2 of the people are men and 1/2 are women. So that narrows is down to 150 women with gonorrhea. So then only a small precentage of those would have it orally...maybe 10% which is probably a high estimate, it is probably only 5% or less, I read a report that in San Fransisco only 3% had oral gonorrhea. But lets use the 10% just to make a point. So that means 15 women have oral gonorrhea. And for you to find one of the 15 women is a very long shot. And then on top of that actually getting gonorrhea because it's not common to be transmitted via oral sex. You are looking at less then 1% chance. Probably a % so low that it would take NASA to figure it out.

Please read this over and over again and let it sink in...you really have nothing to worry about.

Actually, oral hsv1 does shed - about 20% of days a year, and type 1 accounts for about 30-50% of all new genital herpes infections, as a result of oral sex.

That said, the chances are much lower if she didn't have any sores than if she did, and you need to find out if you already have hsv1 - if you've ever had a cold sore, you have it, and only about 20-40% of those with oral hsv1 will ever get a cold sore, and about 60% of the population has it orally.

Vance gave you all the stats on the ones that are transmitted by oral sex.

Laying dormant for 2 years...I don't really know. But I can tell you I was just reading the experts form and Dr.Hook said that herpes is possible but unlikely, and without a cold sore more less unlikely.
