Yesterday I had some diarrhea, and I had to get up in the middle of the night to go. The second time doing so, I was still sleepy, but felt itchy, so I wiped hard, when doing so, I noticed a brief sharp pain, but didn't really think much of it. During the day I had to go a few more times, and it felt some discomfort and irritation, but I didn't pay much attention to it. After going home, I noticed a small tear near the anus.
Additionally, I've noticed that my gums bleed more than normal while brushing my teeth with average force.
These new symptoms have really started to scare me, please hoping for feedback.
Hey OneWho, have you gotten any results from your test? After our discussions and chats, I'm feeling like HSV is really the only remaining practical risk for either one of us. Good luck.
Thank you for your story OneWho. I can really relate to a lot of what you said.
And yeah, it being psychological is definitely meant to hopefully be of comfort and not an insult. I hope it is the same for me, but then this dull ache has been a constant reminder that it's not just in my head. I've never felt this kind of feeling before, and then I looked it up and started getting worried. Was it the same/similar for you, did you start researching before or after the symptoms started?
How did you learn about all of the tests you should take? Were they through a doctor or a clinic? I'm curious, wasn't this all really expensive? I ask because I might want to go through similar testing.
Have you been sexually active with your partner? Did you normally use protection, or have you started using it now? I am truly sorry for this no doubt stressful situation you are going through.
Your point about this feeling being very common amongst stories on the internet, especially with a strong sense of anxiety/fear or regret, is definitely valid I've seen the same. But at the same time, I fear that again, like you said, this is a relatively young field and there isn't enough research to really know everything. 50 years ago they may have described toothaches as something entirely in your head, when in fact you had cavities or etc. Anyway, that's just a side point, after enough testing, I think it's safe to say that you are clean, have you gotten your results back yet?
Thank you for asking how I am feeling. I've been feeling more muscle cramps and joint aches, seeming more than usual, but perhaps I am just noticing it more, or focusing on it to the point of making it more pronounced of a feeling. The dull ache in my testicles and the pinching feeling in the tip of my penis has still persisted. The anxiety has definitely been weighing me down heavily, regardless to if it is related to my aches. I am still waiting for my initial test results, and getting more anxious by the minute.
Have you taken any antibiotics or medicines at all for this, regardless of the negative test results?
Anyway, thank you again for your support, and I am happy to return the favor.
Sniper, in your case, if your symptoms persist, you might also want to get the prostate checked (i did-fine) and see a urologist.
Could have nothing to do with an STI but be something else.
Oh, and my full list of "exposures":
1. Laying next to one another naked-no risk
2. Having her grind her very wet vagina against my thigh so she could get off. My fear is my penis later touched those fluids, or they dripped to my anus (sounds crazy even to me), infecting me. Presumably no risk.
3. Fingering her, with some cuts on hand. Cuts were small and at least two days old and would have been sealed. Presumably no risk.
4. Kissing her, getting her oral bacteria in my mouth, spitting in my hand, masturbating but not for super long and also without climax. Seems highly low risk.
5. Fingering her, getting vaginal juices on my hand, spitting in my hand, masturbating as described. Still seems unlikely.
So, enough about me! How are you feeling?
Sniper,
Thanks for the perspective and support, I appreciate it.
When you say my story sounds psychological, I don't take it as an insult, I find comfort in it, and I imagine maybe you do too--which is good. Hopefully it's all in our heads (the one up top).
I agree that for all STANDARD stds I should be no-risk. Of course that's easy to say now that I've tested negative for them, but I've read many times that my "exposures" were no-risk for that kind of stuff.
But these little NGU things are unique organisms and haven't been studied much. They live inside another cell, so I wonder if that means they don't die as quickly when exposed to air. Of course, that might also mean they're less able to attach to the end of my urethra somehow when I'm masturbating myself too, since they're encapusulated in a cell and aren't getting jammed into my urethra in the way sex would (or maybe they are, I don't know).
Here are my symptoms. You will see I've gone through a number of scares, partly because originally I was convinced it was a no-risk situation.
5-8 days after: rash on upper thighs behind scrotum (I am prone to fungal infections there though, have gotten 2-3 in my life)
a few days later, my partner gets a different rash on top of her ***/lower back
I am now beginning to fear we got something
She then has huge bleeding episode--although she is menopausal and this has happened before
She begins to complain for days about how scratchy she is all over body--I begin to be convinced we got scabies
I go back and forth between scabies and HSV2
Occassionally, I feel a dull ache by anus, by perineum, in stomach above belt
One month later, I feel the ache in right inguinal area. This persists for next two months. I feel it not all the time, but often, especially when sitting. Sometimes it buzzes. It shifts a bit, from top of scrotum to crease between abdomen and leg to right side of leg
occassional and momentary dull aches elsewhere--anus, perineum, back of legs, back
left shoulder gets sore and left hand gets tingly/numb with some frequency....not every day, but every so often
As for urinary stuff, no discoloration, no discharge, no pain while urinating, no blocked stream, no frequent urination
I happened to have a physical right before the inguinal pain started. That blood test was totally normal.
Here are my urinalyses:
One month after exposure--5 RBCs (that's one over acceptable/normal; trace bacteria. We chalk that up to my during it wrong--first of stream instead of mid-stream
Two days later--completely clean urinalysis
6 weeks later--some RBC and some WBC but in the normal range; "trace" mucuous; some normal skin cells (may explain RBC and WBC-slight contamination ofmy sample)
At 8 weeks, I tested negative for all standard STDs. The woman I was with had already done that once, a few weeks before we were together, and then again, 6 weeks after (which was 15 weeks after her last exposure other than her own husband--she had two affairs this year)
I just did the 12 weeks test. Was hoping to get an answer today, but I assume tomorrow. Obviously these will all be negative.
I did the trich test at nine weeks. Negative.
After that I had a urine swab looked at under a microscope--nothing. And a urinalysis--came back clean.
I just did the mycoplasma genitalium test today. Nervous about that.
So, that's my story. My anxiety is driven by guilt, but also by some weird things I experienced and my partner experienced. Over time I went from thinking I had scabies, to herpes, to NGU. That suggests I'll cling to any fear instead of being rational.
I hope maybe that helps you in your own story. If it's obvious to you that my fears are in my head, and so my symptoms are self-manifested, maybe yours can be too.
What I notice from guys on MedHelp who are all worried about NGU (with one exception that came in today) is they are guys who had a sexual experience they deeply regret and then they got very anxious. Read around--you'll see that anxiety thread a lot, with deep regret.
Probably the best thing you can do, if you can, is stay off the computer. It's a real double-edge sword.
So, I hope you get better soon. thanks for your ear. I hope you are right that I had nothing to fear at all and am in a no-risk situation.
Best of everything to you. Keep us posted.
From my research, I think you don't have anything to worry about. It sounds like almost no exposure at all, as opposed to my exposure which has been described as low-risk exposure, for which I've been told to have equally low to no concern over, besides getting the appropriate tests to verify.
It does however reinforce the idea that it is entirely psychological/emotional.
Have you felt this dull ache/pain for the past 12 weeks straight? Has it affected your performance? Overall mood? Other symptoms like, fever, joint pains, coughing/sneezing, back pain, shortness of breath, upset stomach, diarrhea, frequent urination, discoloration, etc?
Hang in there.
So you have no significant other-a blessing. All will be fine.
I have SO I may have infected and haven't confessed to. A curse.
I have had many negative tests. The first round of standard STD tests came back negative at eight weeks and I just did the 12 week test as well and should get those results any day I expect us to be negative also.
I have had negative urine dipstick test negative urine analysis negative urethral swabs and negative urine cultures.
I have tested negative for trick at nine weeks and just today I took a test for mycoplasma genitalium.
My exposure is supposed to be low risk and I believe that for the primary STDs
I am less certain with some of these funky little and G years because they're tiny organisms with no cell wall that live inside a different cell.
My potential exposure includes touching her vagina and her vaginal juices and then using the same hand spitting in that hand and then masturbating my own penis. I also Kister and then spit in that same hand so presumably I could've introduced her oral bacteria in my hand and my urethra as well that way.
I have no idea how crazy our far-fetched those last two ideas are and there's not a lot of research and information about transmission
Thanks for all your help then man, much appreciated and good luck on your tests as well, let me know how they go.
I was/am anxious because of the incident and just over thinking worst case scenarios. I'm mostly nervous imagining if it is something not treatable, or having to live with this feeling without knowing what it is.
Are you getting multiple tests as well? I figure I'll get another one at the 12 week mark myself. And thank you again for support, it is much appreciated.
If it is any consolation, I have had multiple doctors not believe it's an STI.
You are best off avoiding the anxiety trap if you can.
Was this outside committed relationship? Is that why you're so anxious?
Otherwise, worst-case, it's treatable.
They say it is possible. I have same pain on inguinal/testicular area, by the way. I also struggle to believe it sometimes and am trying to "test out." I am 12 weeks post-exposure.
If your risk was unprotected oral, look for bumps on penis.
Ignore the face stuff-nerves, probably.
Where would I look for these bumps on the skin? Would I possibly feel itchy in random places? I feel like my skin has felt more warm and dry than usual, and especially my face feels particularly dry, and additionally itchy.
And I did not notice any visible cold sores or anything, but I also did not get a very close look or anything, but nothing jumped out at me either. Of course no way to know if there were sores inside or gum bleeding or etc.
Ugh, sometimes I think I don't have anything at all, but then there is the dull tingle/ache in my genitals that just seems to be present, and makes me feel different. It varies in terms of degree of the ache ranging from not noticeable at all and tingly, to a throbbing kicked-in-the-balls, pinching the head of my penis feeling. Is it really possible that anxiety could produce such a pronounced physical feeling?
But your herpes risk was low as long as she didn't have a visible cold sore.
Not sure windows on.NGU...some are slow-growing and may take longer then a few days before you can test.
12 weeks for herpes.
You'd look for a painful bump on top of skin that opens to form a lesion that them goes away.
But many with herpes are unaware/don't notice that.
Thank you again for the replies.
Yes, shortly after I made this post, I went and got a test which included Chlamydia and Gonorrhea tests. I am anxiously waiting for those results now. Will post the results here when they are available.
How long would I have to wait to check for Herpes, and what kinds of symptoms would be indicators of such a thing? Same for NGU.
Thank you again.
Did you test for chlamydia and gonorrhea yet?
Very well could be anxiety. Search this site for CPPS or the Wiki page on same.
You can get tests online or at doctors offices or STI clinic. The tests are specialized so may or may not be available and may be pricey.
HIV is impossible from what you described-don't worry about that.
Thank you for the info! How do I get tested for NGUs?
I had unprotected oral after protected oral, which was the same condom used during vaginal sex, so my fear is that it was possible for some vaginal fluids to be in the mouth during the unprotected oral. Is this something of concern?
Also, I will admit that this wasn't the first time I had unprotected oral, but after the fact I got really worried about this specific event, and otherwise it is the only time I've started to feel the pressure/dull-pain in my testicles.
I also feel like I've been getting a mild fever, sore throat (been having to clear my throat of phlegm and swallow a lot), and mild coughing/sneezing, as well as some inconsistent muscle and joint pain, especially in the knees and back. Do you think this could be sign of Herpes or HIV? I've actually been feeling tense and lots of random symptoms, and it has got me worried.
I know a lot of this is probably mental, but I appreciate your time and assurance regardless. Thank you very much.
Basically, it sounds like you had unprotected oral as a risk factor.
that's typically thought to be low-risk, especially one time.
You can get tested for chlamydia and gonorhea now. You have no real risk for the other standard STDs minus Herpes 1,
One thing to consider is getting tested for NGUs. Some are things you can get from oral sex. Worth looking into.
Would really appreciate some more feedback from the community.
I will definitely get tested soon, but I wanted to get some feedback and start some conversation to help understand and perhaps get some stress relief in the meantime. Do you think it could be either of those two? Do you think it could be something else? Thank you for your help.
If you test for chlamydia and gonorrhea they will be accurate by now.
