Syphilis expose - and pregnancy

About 2 years ago, I was tested for syphilis. Test results came back that I had been exposed to the disease. Does this mean - that the disease is dorment within me and I can get it now or in a few years? Also, I have just found out I am pregnant - I am 8 weeks n my doctor has just done a blood test routinely, including a syphilis test.
Will the results again come back and show I was exposed to the disease?
Does exposure make risks for my pregnancy or my baby?
Please help - Im confused! =S

It is confusing, and I hope the latest tests confirm the negative.  :)

I dont know what kind of test I had done, It was a blood test and it came back positive, however my doctor did a follow up test which came back negative, I was told I didnt need treatment.

I have no re-located to a different state and am seeing a new doctor, I get my test reslts back from last week today - so will see how they come out.

Thanks alot, this is all so confusing for me and I am extremely worried!

Do you know what kind of test you had done?  Were you treated 2 years ago?  There is no such thing as "being exposed" to syphilis - you either have it or you don't.

Since you are pregnant, tell your doctor about this.  Call them tomorrow and ask them to order a confirmatory test even if the test is negative.

If you have it, you need to be treated or it could cause serious problems in your baby.  Your doctor needs to know this.

Good luck,
Aj
