Worried about HSV-1 & HSV-2 Positive, Life Partner is Negative.

Found out I am HSV-1 and HSV-2 positive.  Have never had outbreak that I know of.
Only remember pimple on penus when I was teenager, but had other pimples on chin, back from time to time.  Seemed to be similar, did not give it much thought.
Wife is negative both types.  Plenty of monogamous sex for 40 years.  Is there logical explanation why she does not have it?  How can she protect herself going forward.  She is naturally concerned.  So am I.

So why doesn't she have it by now?  It's as much about bad luck as anything when you contract genital herpes. It's not as contagious as most folks think it must be.

if You want to try to increase her odds of continuing to be lucky - consider daily suppressive therapy to reduce your viral shedding of the virus.  There is info on the valtrex webpage about how daily suppressive therapy reduced the risk of transmitting to a partner by 50%.  Of course also avoid sex whenever you have any symptoms genitally too.

Did bloodtest; results on me HSV2 13.14  HSV1 2.32
Wife looks like she did blood test only for HSV2  0.04
I see some orders for her:
vaginal pathogens DNA direct probes
wet prep
chlamydia trachomatis DNA probe
neisseria gonorrhoeae amplified probe technique

How were you diagnosed as having hsv1 and hsv2?  Feel free to get a copy of your blood test and post the results here so we can make sure you were properly tested.

How was your wife tested?
