Vaginal odor is more likely a symptom of bacterial vaginosis, which is an overgrowth of the "bad" bacteria that normally live in the vagina.  BV is not considered to be an STD, but needs to be treated if you have the infection.  Women with BV often describe the odor as "fishy."  Vaginal odor could also be from a yeast infection or possibly a bacterial STD such as chlamydia or gonorrhea.  You should go to a gynecologist to get this checked out - you probably have something that can be easily treated.
Good luck,
Em
