The most common used blood tests for syphilis are RPR or VDRL. These tests will show if antibodies to the syphilis bacteria are found in your blood. However, sometimes these tests can yield false positives, so they always have to be confirmed with further testing if the test shows a positive.

As for other STDs, blood tests can be used for Hepatitis, HIV, Herpes. As for gonorrhea/chlamydia, you should have a urine amplification test done.

Syphilis is NOT cured by an over the counter medication.  It can only be cured by a prescription antibiotic that you get from a doctor.  If you think you have it, you need to go to a doctor and get a blood test.

It is just as easy to catch Syphilis as it is Chlyamidia and Gonorrhea. However, it's not really that big of a deal beacuse Syphilis can be cured by some over the counter medication. All three are 100% cureable. That's why most people only talk about Herpes and HIV on these message boards.
