unprotected oral sex last week

Dear Doctor,

Last week(8 days ago) I made the dumbest mistake of my life, as I received unprotected oral sex from a pro, and I am scared to death. Of course I think I have everything under the sun. The act lasted approx 30 seconds, there was no vaginal sex, only receiving unprotected oral, with ejaculation not inside her mouth. Afterwards I immediately showered(within 10 mins), and scrubbed the heck out of my penis, including inside the urethra, as much as I could with hotel soap. I had an 8 hour car ride back to go over the situtation in my head. My symptoms have been sensitive penis head(within 1 hour of act), sore tecticles(although I very recently hurt my back), super frequent urination with no burning or pain, guilt beyond belief, no discharge of anything. I have been going over posts in this forum and think I know what your response is, but would feel better hearing it from the horses mouth. I am scared to death, can't eat, sleep, speak to my wife, etc. Thank you for your comments and your service to this forum, it has been very comforting and helpful.

I have had kidney stones in the past, I was in his office 3 days after the event for pain in my lower back that I thought was a stone, he said it was muscular pain as I hurt my back 2 weeks prior. They ran a uranilaysis(sp) and did a smear test and gave me the going over, prostate exam and such, said I was good to go. Would anything suspicious show on either a urine test or the smear test? Thanks.

Yes, your urologist can do it.

I wonder though, why you have a urologist?  If you've had any urology issues before, this could be that problem recurring, especially if you had prostatitis.

Since you are so concerned, why not just get tested?

And having cold sores in the past only reduces your risk for genital herpes type 1.  It offers no protection against gonorrhea, syphilis or NGU.

Thanks for the comments. I am just besides myself with this. I have no real symptoms of anything, girl was a 36yo mother w/3 kids, seemed clean, I just worry constantly and I think I am causing my "symptoms"(irriated penis head) with thought. It is just reassuring to hear your comments. I have had cold sores in past, with no discharge or painful urination do you think I am in the clear? My head is so screwed up I can't even get an erection now, and I about made myself sick yesterday thinking about it. Again no real symptoms, just irrated penis tip, frequent urination, sometimes sore testicles. Any further comments.

While its possible to get an std from oral sex, the chances are pretty low.

Your biggest chances are gonorrhea, NGU and syphilis.

If you are concerned, you can test for gonorrhea and NGU (make sure they look for white blood cells in your urine) at about a week post exposure.  Syphilis can be seen on tests at about a month- 6 weeks.

In most places, gonorrhea and syphilis are uncommon, so I wouldn't overly worry about it.  NGU, which is an infection in the urethra, can be caused by normal mouth bacteria entering the urethra.

Genital herpes type 1 is a concern, but if you've ever had oral cold sores or the person didn't have any oral sores, I wouldn't worry too much about this either.

HIV is NOT a concern with oral sex.

Hey, im in a similar situation, except that my symptoms started about 30 days after, not sure if its just me making it worse in my head or if there is really a problem. I havnt been able to eat, sleep or even interact with my kids.  I think iv lost like 10 lbs just from being worried. Anyway, hang in there, hopefully everything is ok and we are just over-reacting!
