urinalysis and std's

will a standard urinalysis indicate that an STD bacteria exists or does a special test need to ordered? if my urinalysis is clear (ie no bacteria detected) would that include STD bacteria in addition to other bacteria (e.g. urinary tract infection)?

thanks!

Not unless they test for drugs, and they won't.

Hi there -

They might be able to see white blood cells, which would indicate a bacterial infection, but unless they specifically order std testing, it wouldn't show on that.  A good lab tech MIGHT be able to see some chlamydia or gonorrhea bacteria, but its not likely unless they are doing a specific test.
