would I have tested positive

I have tested negative for syphilis twice in 2012, but my mind keeps wondering if I could have spread it and have been cured prior to when I would have tested positive.  I remember being on antibiotics around the time for a cough.

Would a VDRL test positive when a chancre is active?

Vance,

Thank you for your reply.

As I think about your answer I am curious if you are saying yes, I would have tested positive with an active chancre or if you are saying  I could have spread it and then tested negative  making it seem like I never had it.
