Mri brain wo contrast 53 yr old results help!

2012: Can you give me your opinion please I would so appreciate it. Multiple area of abnormal increased T2 and flair signal present in the strip white matter. There is periventricular predominance and demyelinating disease is suspected. Chronic microischemia changes not totally excluded.  There is mild atrophy of the corpus callosum.  No lesions are identified in the posterior fossa.
Diffusion weighted sequences appear normal. The ventricles are normal size. No mass or midline shift. The cp angles are clear, the craniocervical junction appears unremarkable.

IMPRESSION: Nonspecific white matter signal abnormalties in the cebral hemispheres. Demyelinating disease is favored over chronic microischemia changes.

2005:Flair and T2-weighted images show several small foci of hyperintensity in the cebral white matter. These are most prominent in the peri-atrial areas. This is not a specific appearance in a patient this age, ddelineating or chronic ischemic change might be considered.

IMPRESSION: Multiple areas of T2 hyperintensity in the cerebral white matter as described.

Why can't they we understand this, we have the problem. I realize if any of you would help me with this, it would be just an opinion.  Thank you so much!

An MS doc told me that my small lesions didn't really look like MS lesions, especially because they weren't enhanced.  In my research into causes of small white matter lesions, I came across migraines, a variety of vascular disorders, celiac disease, and Lyme disease.  Aging can account for one or two or maybe three, but not 10-20.  (As explained to me by an MS specialist.)

Try googling "MS like lesions" and see if you find anything that sounds like what you have.

Lots of people have an EMG in the states, but not so many here in the UK when they find lesions.

Yes it certainly looks like some sort of demylinating lesions but these can be caused by other events rather then MS, so he is really checking you out which is a good thing.xxx

Hi I know i wonder why they bother sending stuff to people like this, because it causes more anxiety.

I think basically what it is saying is there is nothing horrible horrible to worry about but some of the lesions are pointing to a demylinating disease/neurological disease.

The ischemic change could have indicated hypertension, migraine.

I would think the neuro would be looking at some form of demylinating event and not a vasicular event.

When are you seeing your neuro? Mariaxxx
