A negative tendacy related question.

Hi doctor,

I have a tendency to expose my body to another male specifically when we are in the same room but on the different bed. Generally this tendency kicks in when lights are off. Once the lights are off, I will start undressing and uncovering the comforter a kind of strip tease. Though it is dark it is possible to see the other person sleeping in the next bed. I do not have a desire to have orgasm with the person. Nor do I expect anything or any action from that person. I just want to show my naked body. And often times I end up with ejaculation. After wards the next day I feel ashamed. The person might have seen me naked or might have not, I do not know. But my intention is the person gets to see.

This is a deeply sited tendency I have. I have very rare occlusions once in year or 2 when I might be staying in an arrangement where 2 guys are sharing a hotel, motel or resort room.

My questions are:
1.  What is this tendency called?
2. What level of abnormality is it?
3. What is the treatment for it?

Will appreciate your reply.

Sincerely

Yani of Devotion

Here is from one posting on Wikipedia:  "Exhibitionism is considered a psychological disorder if it interferes with the quality of life or normal functioning capacity of the individual.  Many psychiatric definitions of exhibitionism broadly define it as 'sexual gratification, above and beyond the sexual act itself, that is achieved by risky public sexual activity and/or bodily exposure.' "

It is possible that your need for this sexual risk will intensify, and if so, you could get yourself into trouble with it.  You should speak to a psychiatrist if you are concerned that this might happen or that it is consuming more of your thoughts.

Sorry, but this is not a forum in which questions are answered by a doctor.  What you are doing is exhibitionism, which is what it is called when someone gets a sexual charge from the idea of showing himself.  You might look it up online (look up exhibitionism) and it will probably tell you some of the reasons people get this particular fetish, and perhaps how it is treated.
