Birth Control

Is it normal or appropriate for a 47 year old woman to be taking birth control pills for reasons not related to pregnancy prevention?

Absolutely. Doctors will prescribe to balance hormones during menopause. With menopause, women experience chills, hot flashes, night sweat and some physicians will prescribe it to balance the hormones that are all over the place. Usually menstruation has decreased or stopped completely by this age, then menopause will kick in and birth control pills will help. So, it's not just for preventing pregnancies. Judy
