Can I be pregnant & can epilepsy be passed on?

I think I may be pregnant??? Brest tendrness, slight weight gain, change in appetite, nausea. Well the nausia is gone now. But the last time I had sex was 2.5 months ago and the condom broke but I am on the pill so I didn't worry, but I am heavy and have heard it is less effective when you have more body mass. What I'm most worried about is my BF (now ex) has severe epilepsy and so did his mother so if I am pregnant will the baby have it? Plz. does anyone have any advice?

Epilepsy is hereditary.  I am 4th generation epileptic but......... my children do not have it.  It takes two sets of genes to make a child.  Epilepsy doesnt mean that a person is disabled.  Some kids that get epilepsy can actually grow out of it.  I learned as an adult that I had it all my life.  We just thought I passed out a lot as a kid, and got many concussions.  With medication many people do not have seizures for years.   I would get a home pregnancy test and definately make an appointment with your obgyn first to confirm if you are pregnant.  Let the obgyn know of the family history and he/she will give you advice.   First....please try to breathe...Its not a fatal illness, and your pregnancy should be filled with wonderful expectations and dreams of a beautiful baby.   I wish you luck, and will keep you in my prayers.

I know the last post said it can not be passed on but i have to slightly disagree with her.
My Cousins wife has epilpesy and because she had a grandma seizure during labour and the drugs given to her for that and the ones during her pregnancy her little girl now is a epilpesic. She was told she was born depend on the meds and because she never had it going into her system she to developed it.
I am no doctor and to not speak from experience. But I do reccomend you speak to your doctor ASAP for all the correct info you may need.
