Vaginal burning and redness

Hello, hope you can help! On and off for the past two or three months now, I've had pain, redness and swelling around the entrance to my vagina. It started when I got a new boyfriend and we started having sex.

Two weeks ago, I also got what looks like a scratch just outside the entrance to my vagina and it won't heal, maybe because It keeps getting irritated each time I go to the bathroom or have sex. It stings and tingles but doesn't itch. There is a little bump beside the scratch but I can't tell if that's just a normal bump.

This has happened once before three years ago (again after I began a relationship). I was worried it was herpes but when I went to the gyno he said it was just irritation (he sent a sample to the lab). Now it's happened again so I'm again worried it might be herpes. But would it be possible to have only two outbreaks in three years? I've had three partners in that time, and it happened after I had sex with two of them. When I was celibate in between--once for 14 months--this was never a problem.

I have an appointment at the STD clinic but it's two weeks from now. I was hoping you could tell me if this sounds like herpes, or if not, what it might be.

When I started a relationship with a man 3 years ago sililar problem began. The itching was very bad...discharge only while we were having sex. I've had no sex for about 2 years now, but the iching is still present. It's very frustrating...I'm going crazy. I want to have some kind of sex life but I don't know if that will ever be possible. One more important thing: my ex husband gave me herpes which I was not aware of until recently...I read on line that herpes can cause all kinds of problems. I need answears too.

Thank you. Actually, I have always used condoms, but I understand you can contract herpes even if you practice safe sex. As an update, I did get in to see a doc yesterday. He said it looked like a yeast infection, but that it could also be herpes or just caused by friction from sex. So I'll have to wait for the results of my blood test.

Well, I don't know if it is herpes or not. I'm not a doc. But I think you should start using condoms, okay? It may be a lot of things like candidiasis, for example. I know it sounds really annoying waiting for the gyno. I'm male and I'm waiting for my MD (Urologist, of course) and it's awful. I have a lot of bad symptoms. But, as a friend told me today here at MedHelp, call them and see if they can put you on a cancellation list.
