Thanks I appreciate it. I'm way to scared of needles to even think to stick myself. Hopefully soaking will help and the swell will go down on its own.
You're generally not *supposed* to squeeze at pimples or boils (doesn't stop me, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea). What you should do first is soak it in warm water. Either take a bath deep enough to cover the area, or apply a warm, wet washcloth (keep rewarming it). Only lance it if it has come to a head. The pin will work fine for that step. Then gently pull the sides AWAY rather than pushing them together, and try to get stuff to drain that way. Squeezing can force more pus and bacteria farther in, creating a larger problem. You can try gently squeezing, but stop if you start feeling a sharp pain. It should be drained when there's only blood coming out. Rinse it in warm water and wash it gently, pat dry, and apply some antibiotic ointment. Try not to sit on the area or allow anything to put pressure on it til it heals. Don't fall into the trap of squeezing it repeatedly if nothing much is coming out--it will swell after being squeezed, and you'll think there's more, but it's just swelling and you'll only make it worse.
Thanks for responding...I appreciate it.
You seem to be describing a pimple/cyst/boil (all generally the same thing). You can attempt to drain it on your own either by squeezing it or using a sterile needle (burn the needle point for a few seconds to sterilize it) to poke at the point of the pimple that sticks out farthest. If you can open it with the needle, then you can squeeze the blood and pus out. It should feel better after being drained. Keep it drained by squeezing it once or twice a day, also, keep the area clean and dry. It will heal on its own. Blessings - Blu
