Always use lubrication, like remar says use gloves on your hands. And always wash your hands properly afterwards and before you touch your penis. It appears that you scratched the anal canal.

It does sound like you may have a tear and that's why you saw some blood. Or, if you used your finger one of your nails may have caused a scratch. It's best to use lubrication any time you do anything with your anus. If you're using your fingers you may want to use a rubber glove.
