Hello.

Hi there.

Some men worry about the curvature of their penis. Penises come in all shapes and when erect, they may curve to the left or to the right; or up or down; and some may not curve at all. This is part of the diversity of the human body and is not an issue unless the curvature is so extreme that it makes sexual activity painful.

if your girlfriend is experiencing pain, you might want to experiment with different positions to see if you can find some that are more comfortable for her.

If the curve is so extreme that it's also painful to you when being sexual, you may have developed Peyronie's Condition. Peyronie's is a condition of uncertain cause, which is characterized by a plaque, or hard lump, that forms on the penis. The plaque develops on the upper or lower side of the penis in layers containing erectile tissue. It begins as a localized inflammation and can develop into a hardened scar, which causes severe penile curvature.

Some studies have revealed that approximately 20% of men who have Peyronie’s will have improvement or complete correction of their penile curvature within the first 12 months of their condition. Other studies contradict this. However, as the plaque in Peyronie's disease may shrink or disappear without treatment, some medical experts suggest waiting a full year before attempting any correction.

If you're experiencing pain, I suggest you see a urologist for a complete diagnosis. If you're not, then get creative with your girlfriend and find positions that work for both of you. Good luck! Dr. J
