Elderly had a stroke while vacationing in Germay

My friends parents went to Germany. Her father 72 yrs had a stroke there. Right arm and leg will not move. Doctor attempted to place stints going thru the groin. Didnt work, will try neck. Blockage was 75% in cort. art. in neck. They have to pay up front the total bill, but big question, the wife wants to put him on the next plane home and admit to the local hospital in the US. Should this man fly commercially or can he get some medical flight home?  Any help will be greatly appreicated!

The only experience I have is that my father has had 6-7 strokes (Tia's and full blown strokes) in the past 14 years.  During this, they have always advised AGAINST any type of transportation.

The reason that they give is that the plaque on the carotid artery may dislodge and cause further complications as well as several other risks.  I don't know the percentage of this risk happening but they seemed adamant about it.

Call his local doctor at home and ask what his recommendation is.

Hope he gets better.
