Thrombotic Stroke

Hello. I'm researching information on strokes.

A black male in his early fifties suffers a thrombotic stroke. He has high cholesterol and blood pressure but is thin with no diabetes. When he suffers his stroke he loses function on one side of his body and becomes disoriented. He is taken to the ER right away.

How long is he likely to be in the hospital? What is the plausibility for either lasting effects or a complete recovery?
