NEED OPINIONS

My mother frequently gets the symptoms of TIAs. Actually, I believe she has a TIA every month, and she seems to be getting worse. Every month it never fails to come back as I watch my mother lose balance, slur her words, and act complete gone. The whole week of that TIA is a struggle, and as soon as she seems to be "recovering" she happens to experience more TIA symptoms. What can I expect? I'm only left with the inevitable conclusion that my mother is going to have a huge stroke that might paralyze her for life. I hope every works out for all you posting comments. Thanks for listening.

I had 3 TIAs oct 2012 and now they tell me it can  be MS it can have TIA like symptoms  speech and memory problems because it affects the nerves from the brain  sometimes it doesn't show on MRIs  they will take fluid from my spine to make sure.

You did not have a TIA, if you are still experiencing issues they you had a real stroke or other condition causing that, talk to a doctor to make sure you are taking preventative measures. T stands for transient, meaning after 24 hours there are no effects showing.

I has a TIA in 2009.  I still have symtoms such as memory loss, balance issues, and pain in my ears.  I also have problems with my left leg.  My husband and I go dancing and sometimes my left leg refuses to cooperate.  It just decides that it won't move.

You didn't say if your mother is under a doctor's care or not. I'm not an expert, but it would be important that she's actively doing something to help prevent future strokes or TIAs, such as taking blood thinners or other preventative means. Good luck.

Hi

Sorry to hear about your mum:(

I didn't have any TIA's before my stroke, so can't really help with that.  However my one suugestion is to find out what is causing the TIA's & see if anything can be done to prevent them.  Because you are right, a TIA is a stroke waiting to happen.

All the best

Sue
