TIA's and tests

I had an MRI done two years ago after suffering some stabbing headaches, dizziness, and numbness on my left side.  Since that time I know I have had a min. of at least two more, one with the stabbing headache and the ability to only write from right to left for a short period of time and another with the sharp headache and feelings of dizziness and nausea only this time it was my right side.  As we live a minimum of 1/2 hour away from nearest hospital I haven't gone in.  I have told my doctor each time and he basically says "that's not good" and nothing more.  That is a minimum of six TIA's and I am beginning to get a little worried as I have recently found out that they are hereditary (mom's side of the family) but my doc seems really complacent about it.  Should I be seeing another doctor or not?  I am having a bone scan done in 2 days to check for bone cancer so a lot is coming down on me at once and I am not sure where to go from here.  I should mention that I was on vioxx for more than 4 yrs. and was on it when I had the TIA's but still just complacency from the doctor.  What do you suggest I do?

I understand what you are saying.  I belive I have had 4 TIAs.  I metioned the symptoms to my family Dr.and he just blew it off.  It wasn't until I went to the eye Dr. and told him about losing vision in my left for a short period, that I even found out what a TIA was.  He sent a letter to my DR. with recommendations...then my Dr. acted surprised to hear all the symptoms.  I was so angry.  At least now I am being treated.

Don't let your Dr's apathy hurt you, tell him you belive you are having TIAs and that you want a referal to a nurologist and a cardiac work up. Remember he works for you and it is YOUR life...take care of it.

Good luck~
