Swelling a year after lower jaw surgery

I broke my manible on the right side a year and a half ago. Recently the right side of my lower jaw has been swelling up so that is very noticable that it is larger than the left side. My question is should I be worried that the plates that they put in are infected or is swelling normal.

call your oral and maxilliofacial surgeon. thats the only way you going to be able to get a good and knowlegable answer. they will be able to fix the problem and prescribe you the medications for any infection or pain. you may just have TMD but i doubt it if it the lower part of your jaw. call your dr. and have them take a look at it.
