Cytomel, Levoxil and Hair Loss

I had a total thyrodectomy 7 months ago.  I'm on 112mg of Levoxil and 25mg of Cytomel.  I have lost probably 40% of my hair and now my hair is thin and tangled.  This is so stressful for me.  I knew that Graves was serious and I was told that I would do so much better after the surgery, but things are still the same.  There is just so much information out there and I get a completely different picture from my doctor that I"m even more confused.  He put me   on Cytomel just 2 months ago, before when I asked him he was totally against it.  My hair loss and weight gain does not bother him at all.  I don't see a point in changing doctors, because when I had Graves, I changed about 5 endos and found him to be the best one out of the group.  I am just wondering if anyone has any advice about the hair loss and is it ok to be just on Levoxil?  He told me that cytomel was only temporary, but I think I'm doing better with cytomel.  Should I insist that he keeps me on it?  I'm just really confused.

Thank you.

My symptoms greatly improved upon switching from synthetic combo of Levoxil and Cytomel to Armour.  My RLS went away along with aching joints and I finally have REM sleep.  The synthetic drugs just never did it for me.  Within the first 24 hours I noticed a difference.  I now am getting my life back.  I have Hashimotos ...

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
It is fine to be on just levoxyl - most people are on meds like that (ie levoxyl, synthroid etc).  Some people do better with combining these meds with cytomel -- usually would not take all 25mcg at once - maybe 1/2 tab in am and the other 1/2 about 2pm.  The hair loss may mean thyroid imbalance still - tsh should be around 1.0 --- no matter what your thyroid meds are.  Also, there are vitamins made for hair/nails -- go to a GNC or similar store to ask about these.
