HYPERVASCUALR LOBES

Hi- I am new to this site and this is my 2nd post. I apologize for any redundancy on my part if this is the 2nd time you are hearing from me. As I am not quite sure how all this works yet. I am a 57 year old female that has been on a very low dose of levothyroxine and it was recently increased to 88mg. I was diagnosed with hypothroidism.  However, in changing doctors my new doctor sent me for an ultasound that came back with the following results:
CLINICAL HISTORY:  HYPOTHROIDISM
FINDINGS:  Sonographic evaluation of the thyroid was performed.  Rt. lobe measures 2.3 cm and the left lobe measures 2.6cm. Both lobes are heterogeneous. Small soild nodule seen in the right thyroid measuring 11 x 7 mm and a small nodule seen in the left lobe measuring 4 x 4 cm. Both lobes are hypervascular.
IMPRESSION: Small bilateral nodules with heterogeneous thyroid noted.

Went for FNA and the doctor performing it seemed truly concerned with one of the nodules that he said was "gray and fuzzy"...am still waiting for the results.

I gained about 60 punds in a very short time. I have never weighed more than 120 pound my entire life and then overnight this weight gain just happened.  Especially, cause I eat like a bird, or so I have been told. When I do eat, I eat very healthy, no fast food, junk food, fried food, etc...I truly have no appetite and have to remind myself to eat. I am seriously very tired all the time and have NO energy or desire to motivate at all to do anything.  The past few weeks I have been waking up with severe neck pain and thought I was just sleeping wrong or needed a new pillow.  Did buy a new pillow designed for the neck..

Can you please tell me what your opinion is?
Thanking you in advance for your kindness and compassion with the above delicate matter. I can only imagine just how busy you are so I want you to know just how appreciative I am of any information that you can expedite my way.

Sincerely Yours,
Andee

Hi-No I did not mean "mm"...it states a 4x4 "cm".  Can you please comment on "both lobes are hypervascular" as it is states on the ultrasound results?  Last testing showed my TSH @ 6.0 and levothyroxine was increased to 88.
Thank you and I am anxiously looking forward to your next post to me.

Hard to comment on the ultrasound -- "gray and fuzzy" is not necessarily suspicious.  You mentioned 4x4"cm" left nodule -- did you mean "mm" ?  Would await the FNA results.  The heterogeneity overall is most consistent with Hashimoto's (the most common cause of hypothyroidism).

Regarding the weight, it is not likely thyroid even though you are hypothyroid -- would recommend making sure the TSH is in target range (0.5-2.5).
