New problem to deal with now

Hey everyone....I have been just observing the post recently but just wanted to vent for a second.  It's bad enough that I have hashimotos and they can't regulate my levels, plus I am very overweight..now today I went for a routine physical and my doctor found a lump on my breast.  I have to go for an utlrsound as soon as possible.  I am a little scared right now especially living on Long Island which has the highest number of breast cancer in the country.  It's pretty scary.  I don't think there is a correlation with the hashmotos or if you are at higher risk with autoimmune diseases.  I just don't know and I am a little scared.  I'm sure or atleast hoping that it is just a cyst of fatty deposit.  I have the test scheduled for next tuesday. thanks for listening (reading)

Hello SandyAnn.  I'm new to the site.  I wish you the best with your ultrasound testing.  I'm not sure what your history is, but I went in b/c I felt a couple lumps at some point.  They turned out to be fatty tissue and muscle spasm or something like that.  Didn't turn out to be anything of worry for me.  A close family friend that has been battling breast cancer is doing well after her surgery and chemo treatments.  She definately has her up and down days.  So, either way I know it must be quite fearful to think of.  But, it's best they do find it if there is something so it can be taken care of and a process of moving forward can begin.  Then, it is that much better if it turns out to be not a thing of matter at all.  My thoughts are with you.

Hashimoto's is not known to be associated with breast lumps or cancer.  Certain thyroid cancers can be associated with breast cancer but this is rare (Cowden's Disease).

Sandyann,Hi!
My wife gets breast lumps every now and then, sometimes significant size but hers has been due in the past, to hormonal imbalances. At times she has had highly elevated estrogen levels. These always go away over time and not to be too graphic, are more commonly found under and around the nipple areas.
Of course it is ALWAYS good to have these checked regardless because it is not something to take lightly just in case. I'm glad your Doc is looking at it closely for you. The fact that there are other causes might comfort you a little.

Thank you for the information.  I totally know that it's more of a chance of it be nothing than something.  It's just stressful enough dealing with the thyroid issues and I have severe asthma and now I have to go and get this taken care of.  It's just annoying but I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to me.  It means a lot.  I'll keep you updated.  Sandy
