No - in most cases, weight change is not a prediction for/against thyroid cancer
Hi, just me again! was wondering if nodules are cancerous would i be losing weight, and , because i'm not would this be a good indicator that they are not malignant/
thank you for info. Am seeing endo on Weds so hopefully willl be more informed by then. thanks again for your time and advice.
anyone any ideas please?!
It may be worthwhile having an I-123 nuclear scan to determine if the nodules are hot or cold. If there is a cold nodule been biopsy would be indicated to rule out cancer. If this is a toxic nodular thyroid then treatment is typically surgery or radioactive iodine. Also would screen for Graves' disease with a TSI if not already done.. If this is Graves' disease then typically we start with anti-thyroid drugs but in situations where there is a reaction, surgery or radio active iodine as a backup. At this point you have only mild elevation in T4 and T3, therefore getting additional information and possible econd opinion may be worthwhile before proceeding with definitive therapy.
