What Medications have been linked to causing the Hypothyroid condition

What (Specific) medications have been Directly linked as causing thyriod damage resulting to the Hypothyriod condition aside from Litium

Thank You for the reply! What symptons did you have, I have been having several problems. I just had a lymph node biopsy of the neck and the diagnosis was Reactive Follicular Lymphoid Hyperplasia. It also showed that my CD4 and CD8 T cells were elevated. A CBC showed that my RBC were low but my hemoglobin was normal. I also had a Thyroid Function test that was normal. I have nodules in my thyroid and Have to have an Ultra Sound done Monday. I have been having night sweats but only a couple times a week. A low grade fever daily fatigue that is different from the fatigue associated with my MS. This has been happening since around January or so. Does this sound like anything you have been experiencing and if not, any ideas? I read that the Avonex could cause breast cancer, I guess I am concerned about thyroid cancer. Anyway any info would be appreaciated. I go to my Neuro next week so he can see all my results. With different docs ordering test they haven't all been seen by just one so I hope my neuro can shed some light. Thanks Sue

I have taken Avonex and Capaxone for MS about a year ago and developed an allergic reation to both. I had been on Avonex 2yrs up to that point, since that is Interferon could that cause Thyroid cancer or any other problems.

interferon is a substance that is similar to a naturally occurring protein in the body. It is given as a drug to help fight diseases such as cancer. It can improve the body's natural response to disease by stimulating the growth of certain block cells in the immune system that can fight cancer cells and viruses.

Interferon can casue many other problems but it is used in fighting many diseases. It was the cause of my thyroid function loss and now I am having adrenal gland poblems.
