thankyou so much for that very important info..!!!...i did have an uptake scan about a year ago and it did show cold nodules i had an fna and it came back inconculsive..but the dr felt i didnt need another at that time..again thankyou very kindly..i have a better understanding that this severe pain i get is normal and not something else going on...have an awesome day...and thankyou again....b
Yes, pain can come from your nodular goiter.
At this point, it is important to confirm the cause of the hyperthyroidism as toxic nodule(s) by doing an I-123 uptake/scan (IF TSH still low at least 6-8 weeks after stopping synthroid) and comparing it to the ultrasound. Any nodule that is not "hot" may require FNA biopsy. I-131 treatment or surgery are the treatment options for toxic nodular goiters requiring therapy.
