thyroid cancer

i went to the doc yesterday for a sore throat, the doc felt and saw a lump in my neck i do have hashimoto/hypo, i do somewhat have trouble swalloing, and feels as tho theres something stuck in my throat i will get a ct scan done tomarrow my voice is sometimes raspy, and thyroid is vary enlarged..any opions..

thanks for the info i was told that my thyroid is pulling on my trachea and i need a biopsy on my lymp nodes thats what the doc told me after getting the ct scan done and thats all that she said

Ultrasound is better than CT at identifying suspicious nodules within Hashimoto's (which does increase slightly the risk of cancer).
CT will help identify pressure on trachea/esophagus or extension into the upper chest.  Biopsy is needed only if a nodule is present that meets criteria for FNA biopsy.

People with Hashimotos are more suseptible to get thyroid cancer. Need to get a biopsy for sure. I was diagnosed in Oct. of 2010 with papillary/follicular thyroid cancer and the best advice I can give is to remove entire thyroid.
