thyroid goiters with no hot/cold on rai u

I have recently had several test done, I know I have hasi my Thyr peroxid ab was 608.0 and my anti thyroglobulin was 91.5 all other thyroid blood work up was in the normal range.

My question is concerning the fact that I had an ultrasound done and it showed a total of 7 goiters.  two of the larger ones were at least 2cm or larger.
My dorctor ordereded a rai uptake.  THe uptake resualts read no hot or cold nodules shown.

How is this possible and what could it mean???
I am very confused and need some insight.
Thank YOU!!!

Scans are of limited value in this situation - you have a nodular goiter and hashimoto's.  Would FNA biopsy dominant or suspicious nodules.

Hot nodules on the thyroid are nodules that during the iodine uptake test are absorbing an increased amout of iodine therefore showing functioning tissue.  Cold nodules are nodules that that do not absorbe iodine during this test therefore showing possible nonfunctioning tissue....these nodules are typically followed up by needle aspirations/boipsy due to the fact that they are more likely to be cancerous.

My concern in my tests is that multipule nodules are present in my ultrasound. actually mutinodularity is present....and during the uptake there were no focal hot or cold nodules noted with in the gland.....this is very suspescious and concerning.

I would like to know what "hot" and "cold" mean in terms of goiters.
