Advice on my u/sound

Hello Dr

I had my follow up u/sound last week and here are the findings. I have been advised that I can do a "watch" on this in a year's time as it is not causing me any symptoms and does not look suspicious in anyway and as there is no solid component to it there is no need for a biopsy. It has not changed in size or features in 4 years. Can you give me your input?

Also does taking Iodine shrink a cyst such as this? I have read conflicting stories...some say it does..some say it can make goiters/nodules appear.  I do not eat much iodine rich food such as seafood. I have a bit of iodized salt and iodine in a multivitamin but that is it..any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

HISTORY: Multinodular goiter.

REFERENCE EXAM: None.

TECHNIQUE: Real time and color Doppler ultrasound imaging were
performed of the thyroid gland and it's surroundings. I, Dr. Donaldson
performed the reading.

FINDINGS: The right lobe measures 6.3 x 2 x 1.5 cm. The left lobe
measures 6.9 x 1.8 x 2.2 cm. A few cystic lesions are identified
bilaterally. The largest is in the lower pole of the right lobe and
measures 2.3 x 1.6 x 1 cm. It is profoundly cystic but contains more
echogenic leak material in the dependent portion. Low level echoes
throughout the lesion likely represent debris within the fluid perhaps
cholesterol crystals. No calcifications are identified related to it.
Since a few other very tiny lesions are identified bilaterally.

IMPRESSION: Few bilateral cystic lesions with a dominant nodule
inferiorly on the right measuring 2.3 cm. The sonographic features are
typical of a benign lesion. Reportedly the patient has an outside study
through this should be sought for comparison.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
This is a low risk cyst, but should under FNA if not already done.  There is approx 3% rate of cystic papillary cancer (ie, low risk, but not "no risk").
Iodine is not recommended - some studies suggest may increase cysts/nodules.
