Concerned about a 12 mm solid nodule

I will try not to ramble... I am 39... went to the Dr. because I thought I may have hypothyroidism...unable to lose wt. no matter what in over a year, thinning hair, HORRIBLE hot flashes 24/7, extreme fatigue to where they put me on ritlan to help... all the lab work has always been normal, TSH, T3,T4... all of it!  I mentioned that it feels like I have a lump in my throat and when tilting my head, it feels like it cuts off my air/swallow , I stay hoarse half the time...I have been dealing with swollen lymph nodes for over 2 yrs. without explanation...My bld. wk. is always normal with occassional low wbc count that comes right back up...then we do an US on my thyroid 2 wks ago and get a message on my machine Friday  that they found a 12 mm solid nodule on my left thyroid and they have made an appt. with a local endocrinologist.  I remember from the US it was very vascular.. I am a nurse and the US tech and I were talking during it and she pointed out what the colors meant...  I have been working in a trauma ctr. for over 8 years, in which we do alot of xrays...never really thought about shielding since I had a total hyst. several years ago...didn't think about my thyroid... I know... not smart.  So... what's your opinion given what I've said... I thought I would have abnormal labs if they ever found a nodule... so what to make of a 'solid' nodule with high vascularization?

Update: final US report:  'Along the posterior aspect of the left lobe in the mid to lower pole region is an oval 12 mm solid nodule that in and of itself is homogeneous.  No other nodules are seen'  Oval in shape along the posterior aspect of the left lobe.

Does this change anything?  I guess the reason I worry, is my history of cancer twice now in 39 years... and have normal lab values... but yet feel like I am choking, have swollen glands... have a hoarse voice and am still taking Remicade IV infusions q 8 wks.

Do I wait to see the endo or talk to a friend that is a surgeon... I don't want to seem impatient... just concerned.

Most of these are benign, but most solid hypervascular nodules >10mm need biopsy.

Because the nodule is 12mm [1.2] cm the endo most likeky will order the biopsy;the vascularity in the nodule is increasing CHANCE for it to be malignant.
